Lanotte alessandrasabina.lanotte (at) cnr.it DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM/PROJECT: This project focuses on the role of hydrodynamical stresses in the fragmentation process of modeled micro-plastics in realistic turbulent flow conditions. The candidate will perform Direct Numerical Simulations of a three-dimensional turbulent suspension of fiber-like small fragments, by means of a Eulerian–Lagrangian approach. The goal is to compute the dynamics and statistical properties of fragments dispersed in the turbulent flow, and study how turbulent velocity gradient statistics impact their fragmentation rate. Contract of one year (renewable). Yearly gross remuneration for one year: “19.367,00” € QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: - Master’s Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering or related and a professional background suitable for research activities; - Experience or knowledge in computational fluid dynamics; - Good knowledge of at least one of the following programming languages: C, Fortran; - Good knowledge of the English language, and basic knowledge of the Italian language (for foreign candidates). DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: 14TH OCTOBER 2024
