HIGHLIGHTS OF 2025
* First Poland's Faculty of Space Technologies at AGH University of Krakow * New Master's Program in Space Technologies, along with a preparatory semester for non-engineers * MXene in LEO: an experiment within the IGNIS Mission. Designed at our Faculty and conducted on the International Space Station by Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski * Launch of HYPE satellite constructed by students. Built by students from the SatLab Student Research Group at the Faculty and launched into LEO orbit
EVENTS
We joined numerous national and international events this year, expanding our network and engaging with the global community.
We were present at major events including the International Astronautical Congress, EU Space Days, ImpactCEE, Tiandu Forum, ESA Open Days, Space Tech Expo and Open Eyes Economy Summit.
We also organized the VIIIth Space Resources Conference at AGH, welcoming space experts from across the globe.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCES
We participated in over 30 international conferences across Europe, Asia, North America, and Australia.
Our student won the 1st prize in poster competition at Student Research Conference on Applied Computing, Dubai.
Our scientists engaged in research at institutions such as Stanford University, Tohoku University, London School of Economics, Oxford University, TU Berlin, University of Luxembourg, and were involved with space agencies: NASA, ESA, POLSA, and ISRO.
SCIENCE OUTREACH ACTIVITIES
We hosted a visit by astronaut Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski at AGH, participated in Małopolska Researchers' Night and numerous science festivals, and organized Krakow Space Week.
MEET THE COMPANY & SPACE SEMINARS
Through our Meet the Company sessions, students had the opportunity to connect with potential employers and gain insights into the job market.
Our Space Seminars, delivered by experts from various sectors of the space industry, enabled students to continuously expand their knowledge.
In 2025, we organized 15 Space Seminars and 5 Meet the Company events.
STUDENT SPACE RESEARCH GROUPS
Our students are eager to take initiative and actively engage in space projects.
We host seven space student research clubs, focusing on different aspects of space technologies:
* Satellite design * Lunar exploration and robotics * Lunar payloads * Astrobiology * Earth observation * Software for the space sector
Two new student clubs are being established, which will focus on rocket propulsion and the social aspects of space exploration.
RECEIVED GRANTS
Our researchers received numerous grants that allow them to further develop their scientific work. Key grants include:
* Gaia AI - Development of trusted artificial intelligence in Europe (dr inż. Michał Lupa) * OPUS 28 - 3D-printed hybrid cement composites (dr inż. Waldemar Pichór, prof. AGH) * OPUS 29 - Origin and evolution of prions (dr Tomasz Zajkowski) * PRELUDIUM 24 (for young scientists) - Bone tissue models for microgravity research (mgr inż. Barbara Szaflarska) and Lunar regolith adhesion studies (mgr inż. Filip Wylęgała) * MARLIN, funded by UK Space Agency - SAR-based detection system for small boats (dr inż. Michał Lupa) * ESA BASS - CROPWATCH - Early warning and detection of pathogens in cultivated crop fields using satellite data (dr inż. Michał Lupa) *
PHD STUDENTS
There are 15 PhD students at our faculty, whose research covers:
* Lunar habitat construction concepts using 3D printing * Algal biomass-based composites with lunar regolith * Modeling eutrophication in river basins * Efficiency improvements for pulsed plasma engines * Autonomous lunar base systems * Pathogen detection via satellite remote sensing * Organ-on-chip technologies in microgravity * Federated AI models for biomedical predictions in long-duration space missions
