This specific case study focuses on the cloud chamber simulation of mixed-phase clouds, and aims to foster a detailed understanding of mixed-phase processes within a controlled environment. Workshop Schedule and Venue: Date:8 to 12 July 2024 Location:Yonsei University, South Korea. This workshop precedes the International Conference on Clouds and Precipitation (ICCP) in Jeju, South Korea. More information is available at https://iccp2024.kr/ <https://iccp2024.kr/> Case Description & Science Objectives: This case is focusing on the model intercomparison of mixed-phase processes in the Pi cloud chamber. The objectives of this case study are to answer: * How well do models represent mixed-phase processes, in particular those processes that determine the interactions of (supercooled) liquid and ice? * How supercooled liquid responds to various ice nucleus injection rates? * What is the critical point (microphysical conditions) when cloud glaciation happens? We anticipate that the collective insights gained from this intercomparison effort will significantly contribute to the fundamental and process-level understanding of mixed-phase cloud processes. Participation: Individuals/groups who are interested in cloud modeling using DNS, LES, parcel models, theoretical models, ML emulators, and other numerical tools are all welcome to participate in the model comparison project.
